Online-Poker .. a few tips

Anonymous Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Manage your bets: fold, raise and call

The way you manage your money when you fold, raise, or even call, is one of the most important aspects of poker.

There are various ways how you may use your chips, make the best out of your cards, embarrass or even bluff your opponents:
If you have a good hand and you're one of the first to bet you can watch what your opponents and then raise the bet to increase the value of the pot.
If you have a good hand and you're one of the last point you can raise your turn, to further increase the pot.
If you have a weak hand, you can raise your opponents to think you have a good game, but not to risk too much, you may end up losing everything!
It's up to
you to decide which strategy to use!

Play only the hands that can win

One of the most common errors that players can make is playing too many hands. If your hand is a weak one, do not stay in the game too long. The sooner you fold the less money you'll lose. Learn how to assess the value of your hand as soon as possible, it is best to fold if your opponent has a better hand than yours.

Become a great poker player, improve your game and gain more experience on 3 poker networks at StilettoPoker.com with tournaments, cash games & sit&go's running on all three networks. Be part of this thrilling game here.

Texas Hold'em: Hands Chances in Pre-flop

Anonymous Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Let’s have a look at what are the statistical chances of certain hands in pre-flop, in heads-up situations:

AA vs. KK: AA has about 80% to win the pot. This is true for all pairs against under.

AKs vs AQ: AK has about 70% chance of victory, the AQ has about 26% and 4% is the chance of having a split pot.

An Ace against another Ace with a lower kicker, ie an unpaired card that does not contribute to a straight or a flush: the ace with the highest kicker has, in most cases, about 70% probability of winning unless both kickers are low, in which case the probability of split-pot is higher.

AK, AQ, AJ, or other couples over cards against minors (pocket pairs) such as 77, 88 and 99: the pocket pairs are slight favorites to win, which might, in percentage terms, to remain at 55%. If the higher cards are of same suit the probability of winning is 53% compared to 47% of the pocket pairs.

A10 vs. KQ and other hands in the middle: A10 has about 60% chance.

A10 vs. 78 and other hands with two cards below: The former has about 65% chance of winning the pot.

A10 vs. K8 and other hands in which a card is in the middle: The high hand has 60-65% chance of winning

Phill Hellmuth demonstrates his wisdom

Anonymous Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Phil Hellmuth has been giving his table a lesson in his greatness and alll for free too.
Jusso Leppanen opened from the hijack to 2,700 and the action was on Hellmuth in the cutoff. "Nine thousand," said Hellmuth as he put in his raise.
"Why so big?" asked Leppanen.
"I want you to go away now before your bluff comes!" came the reply.
After around 45 seconds Leppanen folded and requested Hellmuth to show a card.
"You want me to show you an ace?" said Hellmut
"You had it?" said Leppanen
"Of course I had it. These kids are just waiting to give me their chips. I just have to keep structured."

WPT - Malta Main Event

Anonymous
Day 1b of the World Poker Tour Malta Main Event has drawn to a close after eight action-packed 60-minute levels were completed inside the vast Casino at Portomaso. A number of notables took to the felt during the course of Day 1b, but Jackson Genovesi had out-chipped everyone by the end of the night. In fact, he has more chips than anyone still in the tournament.
Genovesi didn't have the easiest of tables when Day 1b began because Table 3 was home to Steve van Zadelhoff, World Series of Poker bracelet winner Ronnie Bardah, Fabrice Soulier, and PartyPoker Pro Kara Scott. Genovesi didn't let the fact he was surrounded by stars faze him, though. If anything, quite the opposite was true.
During the fifth level of play, with blinds at 150/300/25, there was a raise to 700 and four callers before Scott stuck in a raise of her own and made it 2,300 to play from the small blind. Both Bardah and Genovesi made the call, and the dealer fanned out the {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} flop. Scott continued her aggression and led out for 5,000 only to see Bardah raise to 18,000. Genovesi then flat-called Bardah's raise, Scott also called, and action was three-handed to the {7-Clubs} turn.
"What is going on in this hand?" shouted Bardah as he looked up to the heavens, "You just flat 18k?" he motioned to Genovesi, "I have been in some tough spots before, but this is one of the toughest…I have put over 20,000 of my chips into this pot and I have to fold…I have outs too," said Bardah before finally folding his hand. Genovesi then pretended to fold and the whole table burst into raptures and laughter at the reaction on Bardah's face. Genovesi pulled his cards back and called.
Scott showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and needed a queen or a seven to survive because Genovesi held {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for the nut flush. The {6-Diamonds} was not one of Scott's outs and she headed to the sidelines while Genovesi became the new chip leader with 110,000 chips and from that moment, the young Italian never looked back.

World Poker Tour - Day 1a

Anonymous

Season XI of the World Poker Tour continued on Monday with the start of the Grand Prix de Paris, hosted by the world famous Aviaton Club de France. A total of 96 runners paid the €7,500 entry fee to play on Day 1a. After seven one-hour levels of play, Jacques Enjoubault and his 225,200 chips lead the other 5 players who made it through to Wednesday's Day 2.
Enjoubault, who only has $8,390 in career earnings according to the Hendon Mob Database, won a massive pot at the end of the evening against Mickael Layani. Layani, Enjoubault, and Tony G all saw a flop of {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Tony G led out for 5,000, Layani moved all in for 29,100, and Enjoubault made a quick call. Tony G got out of the way, and the hands were opened
Layani{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Enjoubault{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
The {6-Diamonds} turned, giving Enjoubault a straight, and the {a-Spades} completed the board. Layani was eliminated, while Enjoubault saw his stack rocket to over 200,000 chips.
